East Asian Studies

The study of a world region is intended to provide liberal arts majors with a broad, integrated overview of the influences that have shaped, and continue to shape, its internal evolution as well as the role it plays in the world. The East Asian specialization in the International Studies major introduces students to the cultural, economic, historical and political forces, arising inside and outside the continent, that have combined to determine the past, present and future of East Asia. Its educational goal is to provide a firm foundation of knowledge and understanding on which students can build and specialize in their later lives and careers.
